Barak-Zon

Building phase

Alrighty got every release of the overlords so far.  The kits are amazing and really easy to put together.  Have not touched the ships just yet, but those are going to be a much bigger project.

I chose Barak-Zon at first because the color scheme was really cool.  After reading the rules for their specific code they are probably not on par for strength with Barak-Ziflin.  I still see some fun options that will make my KO force fun to play and mildly competitive though.  Which is what I want to see anyway.

Right now the goal is to just get everything together and primered.  10 company are built and primered along with another 10 that are fully assembled.  The goal for this coming week is to get the remaining companies finished then start on thunderers.

What guns?

I've still not decided on what I want to give to my thunderers, but aethercannons are a fairly sure bet because they do so much damage.  Perhaps a group of 10 with one set of weapons and a group of 10 with a different set.

The list so far is looking like this at 2k matched play:

Endrinmaster x1

Khemist x2

Arkanaut Company x3

Frigate x2

Ironclad x1

Thunderers x5

Endrinriggers x3

**ITEMS TO BE DECIDED**

List thoughts

I'm really fancying the idea of an endrinmaster that can take an aethercharged rune and go pummel things.  The list as it stands feels a bit flimsy and I'm looking to take out and replace other better options.

The idea here would be load up ironclad with endrinmaster, khemist and thunderers then 2 frigates with one company a piece.  This leaves one company on the ground to protect my side of the table. Frigates and ironclad will rotate and support as needed and the endrinriggers are there to repair focused ships.  In my head it feels like this is a really weak list that will fail easily if the endrinmaster gets killed.  Currently thinking about how I can add more foot soldiers, but with 3 ships that's going to be difficult.  A brain teaser to be sure and I look to post an update on this soon!

Stormcast and Dwarves!

Alright so back from adepticon and I know for sure stormcast and dwarves are going for next years event.  Not really sure on which will be going to the champs, but I'm looking to take a tough list and finish a little bit higher than I did this year (58 out of 104 not bad!).

With the new Overlords I'm thinking about getting 2 of everything and altering accordingly.  For Stormcast the Celestial Vindicators will be making a scene with the new vanguard and a mix of some older models.

MEGABOSS

Kind of a smaller picture but here he is in all his unlayered glory.  Really dig the yellow gw advice in the ironjawz guide.  I'm going to be making a story of all my stormcast, dwarves, and ironjawz.

Path to Glory Part One

Tims Rotbringers

The Blubberborn Host

Bubilax Blubberblade - Lord of Plagues

Bubolixus Blubbermaw - Rotbringers Sorcerer

"The Bloated Guard" - Five Blightkings

"Sons of Blubber" - Five Blightkings

"The Plaguesworn" - Five Blightkings

"Maggot Kings" - Five Blightkings

10 Pestigors (Gors) -

For our first session will be working on a unit of five Blightkings. I will be using a paint scheme from PTG nurgle paint guide.

Mikes Ironjawz

I'm deciding to not name anyone just yet.  There are a few reasons for this but the main one is that there are just so many ironjawz tribes in the mortal realms that  only the most notable ones will have names worth remembering.

Painting its going to be an inverse of the yellow and dark green Gordrakks boyz have.   I will be using Stegadon Scale Green and Averland sunset as bases.  I like the lighter skin tones and will be hitting them with elysian green.

So for the first session (9/24-10/8)  I will be taking 10 ardboyz and giving them basecoats.  These are primered white to help me with the larger bits of yellow and that lighter skin tone I want.  Will post a sample model of what I'm looking for as a fully based model some time on 9/25.

Work in progress...

Following up a couple successful building and painting nights at Haven, I wanted to share my progress so far.

Going with the Hallowed Knights, I purchased the Army Painter Chainmail spray, which I really like.

So far I've only put on the majority of base colors with no touch up. Next I will layer and highlight (limted) and be done with painting.

I haven't decided on basing yet but am looking for a Ghyran theme, so probably just some greens and rocks.

I also have my army organization and future purchases mapped out.

The Hallowed Knights - The Ironhearts

Path to Glory - The Woe Tide

For my initial war-band I choose a Chaos Lord mounted on a demonic steed (this is all the Haven had at the time and I really like the model). The downside is that this only gives me four rolls on the retinue table. So I rolled three dice on the followers of Slaanesh column, and one on the any patron column with the following results.

I may change my list to regular Chaos Lord and add a Cockatrice or Chaos War-shrine. As of now though, this is my list. I plan to add more fluff to the characters once we get some battles in.

The Woe Tide

Torlec Scyax, The Denied - Chaos Lord of Slaanesh on Demonic Steed

Sons of Torment - 12 Chaos Warriors w/ Mark of Slaanesh

Harbingers of Despair - 5 Marauder Horsemen w/ Mark of Slaanesh

The Painsworn - 5 Hellstirders

Valrimm Fellwulf, The Flayer - Chaos Chariot w/ Mark of Slaanesh

The search for the Dark Prince begins...
